CCAP Artisan: Mrs. Adela Masongsong

CCAP has been marketing handcrafts for marginalized Filipino artisans through trading relationships built on partnership. One of their artisans is Mrs. Adela Masongsong, who started her handicraft business in 1978. Mrs. Adela Masongsong is quoted as the “Ulirang Lola” (Exemplary Grandmother). When handicraft was booming in the late 80s and early 90s, many workers in their province approached Mrs. Adela for work. The workers and Mrs. Adela were able to send their children to school. Her craft has helped Mrs. Adela provide for the needs of her family and is now a proud grandmother of more than 30 children.

“Handicraft making is very close to my heart. Through handicrafts, I was able to support the needs of my eleven children. Though they have their own families now, I still continue making handicrafts because of my passion for it and so that I can be able to give some assistance to my grandchildren as well.”
