Can you teach me how to soften capiz shell?

When we received this question, we turned to an artisan group in Philippines that has years of experience working with capiz to get the answer. Here is what Saffy Handicrafts responded: "After cleaning the capiz shells, the softening process is done by (a) cooking the shells in an oven - temperature and time will depend on the number of shells, and (b) soaking overnight the cooked shells in hydrogen peroxide solution in a closed container."
