QUALITY CONTROL

Welcome to the ArtisanWork.org forum on Quality Control. Our forum will run from June 21-July 19, 2010. The overall goal of this on-line discussion is to exchange ideas, systems and processes that artisans/producers have in place in order to achieve quality products.

The stiff competition in the international craft market requires close attention by artisans on what they are producing. Buyers have such a wide range of products to choose from, so good quality makes a big difference in their decision about what to buy.

Since Quality Control is such a broad topic, we will look at it from its three different stages:

  1. Pre-production: everything related to raw materials and counter samples
  2. Production stage: continue to check counter samples, and using the quality control checklist
  3. Post production: double check counter samples, checklists and attention to packing and packaging

We would like to know:

  • What processes do you have in place to assure that your product quality and performance meets the market and customer requirements?
  • What are some of your best quality control methods?
  • How does your product make it to us without being returned?
  • If at some point your product has been returned, what have you done to guarantee “quality” in your next shipment?

The success of this forum will depend on your input. While we will bring together people from many different horizons, each contributing complementary experiences, we are very interested in your comments and input regarding this topic.

Thank you for your contribution and participation and remember that “Quality is always in demand”
